I love a backyard wedding I do I do ! And Mindy and Jerrad’s was one of the best ! These two were so very easy going and very much in LOVE. I was thrilled when they choose me to capture their big day. Their home off the Sacramento river was ideal for this late September wedding. Luckily they snagged Karen from An Impressive Event. That woman worked HARD to put everything together just right. Also they got an EXTREMELY awesome D.J with Kevin from Extreme pro D.J’s. I also truly enjoyed working with the X-Sight Video crew. They were so full of life and fun to be around. The setting was ideal, with the late September weather being very cooperative and the moonlight doing its part, the serious moonlight.
Mama likes !
This is one of my favorite guy walking photos everrrrrr !
Such a lovely evening under the stars and moon light with some market lighting to set the mood. YUMMIE !
O.K maybe not the worlds longest blog post, but a long one for sure. This was a gem of a wedding from last year, and yes I do ‘gotta bring up old stuff’ now and again. This was a last minute booking that I was thrilled to get. This couple had a marathon wedding day all planned by the one and only Aimee Wendle of 2Chic Events. Aimee is my home-slice and a gifted planner and designer.
The first part of the day was a beautiful Sikh ceremony at The Sikh Temple of Sacramento. I learned so many interesting things about the Sikh culture and truly enjoyed this unique ceremony. If it seems like I am not even mentioning this fabulous couple it is because they really value their privacy. So we will call them J&B : ). I LOVED J&B and am forever grateful they choose me to be a part of their whirlwind day. This was ceremony #1, stay tuned for ceremony # 2, a classic Jewish Ceremony at The Crocker Art Museum. So much culture, love and beauty in just a short 14 hour day : )
Please insert one MILLION thanks to my beloved Sarah Maren for coming to shoot this ceremony with me ON HER ANNIVERSARY. For this big gig, I got by with a BIG help from my friends.
A bit of recent work printed in Sacramento Magazine to feed the hungry blog : ). I have said 423 times how much I love and appreciate shooting various assignments. Partly because I am noisy and love getting a glimpse into folks lives, and partly because I love the challenge of finding nailing just the right photo.
Note the flowers from Shannon ‘Totes Mc Goats’ from Flourish, her milk shake truly does bring all the boys to the yard. Great table shot from The Citizen Hotel, such a beautiful room.
My adorable bride Sara who was married at The Crocker Art Museum this past summer getting some lovin’ : )
FUN FUN FUN at karaoke at Oishii, I want to go back there
soon. It is such a unique venue.
I love it, they call her the ‘menu whisperer’.
This was a ‘why you gotta bring up old stuff’ shot we did of the band Desario a few years back. Desario is the gem of Sacramento. Jim Rivas, band member extraordinaire, is a friend and husband of our very own, again Shannon from Flourish ( name dropping like crazy over here ).
And Lastly, this image snagged ‘The big picture’ spot in the magazine. This was from the Christmas concert from the kids at St. Patricks Academy, completely adorable, this concert really reminded me of what Christmas is all about. So very touching.
This was my last wedding of the year and by golly was it a beauty ! Jillian and Ilyan were so stylish, full of life and deeply in love. A blind man could see how much they adored each other and how happy they were to have found each other. Well I was sure elated to be the one shooting their wedding at one my favorite haunts , The Citizen Hotel. One of the things that touched me the most was how this couple had so many loved ones bursting with joy to share their big day. These two lived out of town so folks flew in from all over the United States and many parts of the world for this union.
I was also happy to have two of my favorite vendors there, Visual Impact and Encore Entertainment. It was the best way to end the 2012 wedding season with a big ol WOOOO HOOOO. Thanks again to my lovely and talented second shooter Michelle, I am so blessed to have you working by my side to create beautiful photos !
Oh the way Dee and Ravi looked at each other. Talk about the look of love. They had such a cute love story, having met in a youth hostile while traveling in Europe. Everyone had the best time at their wedding in her parents home this July ( yes, there is no rhyme or reason to my blog sequence, all part of my charm ). We LOVED the relaxed atmosphere and the beautiful outdoor setting. Dee and Ravi kept it really simple yet made the day so memorable. This was such a great wedding with so many great moments and YUMMIE food from All Seasons All Reasons ( one of my favorites ). Check out these two madly in love on their special special day:
Ravi = adorable right ?
I heart this photo !
I was so EXCITED to shoot Suzanne and Mikes wedding at their families RICE FARM. I fell madly in love with Suzanne and her Mom when they came to meet me. Suzanne lights up like a christmas tree every time she smiles, just the most delightful gal you will ever meet. What a shin dig they had with 400 guests. So many cute details and remarkable photo opts including the most beautiful sunset a person could ever witness. What a blessed day indeed, it was everything I dreamed it would be !
Love this photo from my second shooter Michelle Shiftlet !
I LOVE this photo, the sheer joy !
O.K really ? Little girls in white dresses dancing in a circle…yes…really !
Great spots galore !
Mike the hard working farmer and groom was not getting why I thought things like tractors were so arty : )
One of my all time favorites
Dig that sunset !
LUCKILY my friends at Encore Entertainment were able to cover the event at the LAST minute when their previous person could not make it ( that is me nicely saying they flaked ). Encore saved the day.
The sunset was so magnificent, watching go down was truly a memorable end to a perfect day.
Yikes, I still have weddings to blog from 2010 ? Who does that ? Me I guess. This wedding was a gem I tell you, so it needed some time in the sun. There was in fact NO sun for Megan and John’s nov. wedding, but no worries, we worked it out like nobodies bees wax. If you look up ‘ soul mates’ in the dictionary, there is a photo of Megan and John. Loving these two is EASY cause they are positively one of the most terrific couples on earth. Their wedding at North Ridge Country Club ruled ! They had their Ketubha signing followed by a ceremony under the Chuppah with so many beautiful moments. Much love and joy filled their special night. And much joy came from the fact that my bff Sarah Maren ( yes, you heard it right ) shot the wedding with me. Lucky !!!
This was the credo of their favorite soccer team, you will NEVER walk alone ! True DAT !
I dig the little spider web inside the flower : )
One of my all time favorite photos EVERRRRRRRR
Love this shot by none other than Sarah Maren Whitehead.
SHANNON TERRY ! So when one meets Chris Terry of Encore Entertainment and photo booths, one is instantly impressed with the guy ! He is the pretty darn all over fabulous AND kind, warm, giving, great business man, smart, does his job really well and is incredibly likable. One thinks they are at the top of the Terry family experience, until you meet his wife SHANNON TERRY ! This gal is the bomb dignity. I love this girl, breathtaking beauty, smarts, and a sprit that oozes love and warmth. I especially appreciate how she reminds me to focus on the positive and to alway go back to my truth. She is really someone special !!!!
They were married last year, and Shannon LOVED her wedding photos, but Miss Shannon wanted to wear her dress one more time. Mission now accomplished and she can retire that baby with no regrets : )
Shannon is also a make-up artist so that is a big plus, great job on her own make-up
This was the one that made my heart pitter patter the most.
This was also one of my favorite, love the color of those bubbles !
FUN FACT: Shannon met Chris county line dancing ! She danced her way right into his life for GOOD !
SO MUCH LOVE AND LUCK IN THE HOUSE for my first wedding of 2011 ( YES, I DO have more 2010 weddings to blog, I am still milking them ). Gina and Rhett were so obviously made for each other, what an honor to capture their special day !
Just so many delicious ingredients for the valentines days wedding ! Gina, a remarkable girl, is so full of life and spunk AND A DOCTOR to boot. The minute I met her I desperately wanted to shoot her wedding. Add her now husband, Rhett to the mix and it was just the ideal wedding. These two had one of the BEST venues, The Citizen Hotel, one of the VERY BEST coordinators, the lovely and talented Lora Ward from A DAY TO REMEMBER. Matt Bryce from Extreme Productions did the lighting ( love ) , D.j -ing and was their officiant ( and coat check guy and he was a mid-wife to 3 children born that night…kidding ). I loves me some Matt Bryce, thats all I’m sayin’. And if things could not have gotten any better, Katie from Ambience made the day most beautiful with her flowers. But wait…don’t order yet, because we also got mr. sun shining his face to make our light oh so yummie and I was able to bring Carmen to shoot the wedding with me. Carmen is such a cool gal as well as a very talented photographer. I could go on and on, but suffice to say…MAMA LIKES :
Just Endless places to shoot in an around the Citizen Hotel, really a photographers dream location.
Yes…the alley can be a bit ‘pungent’ at times : )
How cute is Rhett. Just sheer delight to work with !
I LOVE this shot Carmen got of Gina reading her vows before the ceremony. Priceless !
Dig at the expression on Matt’s face !
I LOVE this photo !!!
The dance floor was so packed the guest were literally dancing all over the place.
FUN FACT: MY last wedding of last year and first wedding of this year was at the Citizen Hotel with Lora and Matt, dare I be so bold to say ‘ The dream team was in the house’.
Barbara, Betty and Zuckerberg, oh my ! I know…. nobody like a name dropper, but it is just TOO tempting in this case. While shooting this years California Museum’s Hall of Fame awards all I could think was how proud my mom was going to be that I was able to photograph Barbara Steisand ! What an exciting event.
Here is my gossip run down :
Both Mark Zuckerberg and Serrena William gave me the stink eye for perhaps being a bit too zealous in my quest to photograph them. Betty White was just a adorable as she seems, one just wanted her to be their grandma. Maria Shiver was stunning ! What a vibrate woman. I was so enamored of her throughout the whole event. Barbara was just as one pictures her, ozzing star quality. Lisa Ling was pure delight, so bubbly and happy. It was an honor to photograph our Governor and Major ( I have a tiny crush on Kevin Johnson ). And So VERY thrilling to meet Client Eastwood and James Cameron.
Ok enought with me being star struck and bring on the photos :
Betty stole the show
JAMES CAMERON !!!!
James Broilin there supporting Barbra !
What ? Client Eastwood ? Super coolness right !
Maria Shriver, so vibrant and full of life. What an honor to meet her.
Merle Haggard looking good !
All kidding aside, I give crazy props to the creator of facebook ! Mark Zuckerberg, you really changed the world when you invented facebook ( mu sister still claims she invented it )
This is my friend Jared from Matthew Allen Weddings and Events. Good time !
Kevin is so cute ( yes I said it )
Harvey Milk’s nephew
The California Museum’s staff did a great job ! Much thanks for letting me be a part of all the festivities and a SPECIAL thank to Kelly Bitz and Brenna Hamilton ! Great job !!!
photos with heart and soul
