Yay for the blogging of Jen and Ken !! Right out of the gate just their names together are pretty cute. They had cuteness as well as many other attributes in spades. Their outdoor ceremony at Capital Park took my breath away when during the ceremony I looked at the back of my camera and saw a wide shot with our stunning capital in the background. As you can see getting those heartfelt expressions is my main passion at any wedding, and while editing this wedding I was giving 5 star rating after 5 star rating. Jen and Ken had the whole ‘officer of the law’ thing going as well as just a general peaceful easy feeling that made everyone relax and have the best time ever. After the ceremony it was over to the Historic Masonic Temple where we were treated to the good energy and D.J stylings of one Matt from Extreme Pro D.J’s. I could write a short novel about how much I LOVE Extreme Pro D.J’s ! And she was also smart enough to score Visual Impact as her florist. They nail it every time. Ahhhh less words and more photos right !
Weddings can be stressful for kids…
Heading back to my roots with this one ! The Retro Blogging of my first wedding of 2014 ! This wedding was just a gem ! Working with some of my favorite peeps like Diana from Simple Pleasures catering and Matt from Extreme ProD.J’s, and these two love birds Ann and Logan. These two were just as precious as humanly possible, so sweet and in love ! We were all over joyed with this sunny January Day at the Flower Farm, and dig those oranges right. A shout out to Ann’s friend and make-up artist Summer Brazell. And Fun Fact, Diana Burke from Simple Pleasures Catering actually did everything for this celebration ! The flowers and designs were all from the gift we call Diana Burke !
I am not much of a Christmas person but LOVE heading into a new year, for me it is a very important time to re-group and start anew. I find myself extremely thankful for my many blessing at the end of 2014, and being blessed to be a part of so many weddings is pretty high on my list of things to be thankful for. Life is good indeed. One more gratitude shout out for my treasured Second shooter Sarah ! You rock sister. Here is to a fabulous season in 2015 !
Please get my ‘ Taladega nights ‘ reference and please fall as deeply in love with this couple as I did. Man alive could I go ON and ON about my love for Amber and Ryan. I felt such love for them through out the whole wedding process. Just the coolest folks you will ever meet. Their wedding at The Citizen Hotel was yummie in every way. With my treasured Dominic from Extreme Pro D.J’s and the amazing folks at the Citizen Hotel, this wedding was a slam dunk. The other members of her dream team were Sugar and Spice speciality desserts, Sparkle Bridal Couture and G.Rossi & Co. florists. Well done team !
I do want to rave more, but my need to post these photos is going to win out:
Jessica and P.J called me in 2010 to shoot their 2012 wedding, it was one of those love at first phone call situations. Not only do I adore them but feel like I am part of their families at this point. One would be hard pressed to find a greater group of people than Jessica and P.j’s families. I positively adore these folks.
Jessica is a ‘bling’ kinda gal so the phrase ” Ling Ling you forgot your bling bling ” was used throughout the day. Their Citizen Hotel wedding was a stunner with Kate Miller events, Flourish , Extreme Productions and Shana Beals making this wedding just so very beautiful with design, flowers, lighting and the bride’s make-up. I LOVE this venue and every one of these vendors ! Everything about this wedding was impressive ! Oh how Mama LIKED ! And yes, this is yet another very long blog post as I was so in love with this couple and this wedding.
I love the way this photos shows off Shana Beals mad make-up skills with this dramatic make-up look. Well done my friend, I am your biggest fan !
Beautiful flower design by my beloved Shannon from Flourish, so very talented that Shannon a.k.a ‘ No-No ‘ !
One single tear is like a pot of gold for me, love this shot ! I love this photo, oh yes I do !
Sorry P.J : )
Stunning right, well done team !
That was what Jake of Lesley and Jake told us at one point as Lesley and I were in this huge post wedding love fest. Funny ! We just had endless, “no I love you” e-mails. Thinking about it warms my soul. A special day indeed, one could feel the love between these two. It felt like they were both just so very grateful to have found each other. Jake was as good as it get in the groom department, and Lesley had a way of making everyone around her feel joyful and relaxed. How deep is my love ? DEEP !
So why do I blubber on and on about my favorite vendors ? Because this can be a really stressful day at times and having your favorite peeps around really makes for a happy couple, and a happy couple makes for awesome photos. A win win ! So that is why I will rave about Larry from Extreme ( deep love ) and how he makes an event AWESOME, and how Shannon from Flourish makes the whole day more beautiful with her arty flowers, and what a great job the folks at the Citizen Hotel do making sure everything runs smoothly and the couple feels well taken care ( run on sentence much ? ).
I heart the Goveners suite at the Citizen Hotel.
Lesley gasping at delight upon seeing her flowers from Flourish.
I love this moment of Leslie with her favorite auntie. Awesome shot by Francisco who I nicknamed Ricardo and call him that so much I often forget that is not his real name.
Shannon sure makes pretty flowers !
These are the moments I love the most !
I love this photo !
One view of this shot…
And the second view here : )
Fun Fact : Here is an example of said love notes after posting this blog post on Lesley’s facebook page:
I am ready to revive our love notes now : )
WENDY AND CARRIE ARE ON ‘ SO YOUR enGAYged ‘ blog TODAY. And, well every other Gay blog out there. Not knowing the ways of the blog I submitted it to every gay blog and it was accepted by…every one. My poor ladies having to fill out oh so many questionnaires ( sorry ).
Where to begin to speak of Wendy and Carrie ? Their love for each other and their family touched my soul. The fact that they are not given equal rights breaks my heart. But these two were not about wallowing in the in-justice, they were about celebrating their love for each other with all of their family and friends.
The dream team was the house ! Lora Ward from A Day to Remember planned the wedding like nobodies business, Matt from Extreme Pro D.J’s made the party Extremely awesome and Carissa from Sugar and Spice Speciality Desserts kept everyone in a delicious sugar high. The wedding was at the Citizen Hotel so we had an abundance of amazing places to shoot. Truly a memorable event !
I brought along my own dream team Andrea and Shannon to help me with this special day. Two brides need a lot of coverage people, I am so very thankful for my friends help !!!!
We were all so touched by the way Wendy and Carrie insisted we eat with their guests, we had the most delicious meal that we were talking about several days later. That is just how these ladies roll, a class act !
Awesome expressions ( my favorite part of any wedding ) were abundant on this special day.
I heart shooting at the Citizen Hotel sooooooooo much. Man alive are there loads of great spots.
Wendy walking their children down the isle, priceless !
Photographers LOVE up-lighting !
Of course as the photographer I was required to eat each of these treats after photographing them…. I was just doing my job people.
This photo was on MSMBC !
FUN FACT: Wendy is ‘ sort of a big deal’ in the gay community as an advocate for equal rights. I told these ladies when they are granted the right to marry like everyone else I will be there shooting their legal marriage as well.
Come on…how often is an 80’s song title going to be applicable for a blog title ? In this case, BINGO. Morgan IS a scientist, a marine biologist getting her DOCTORATE in the subject as a matter of fact. But wait…don’t order yet because TODD IS ALSO the super smart science guy. This coule had Giant brains AND good looks, AND were fun and gracious and kind….YES ! The whole package folks !
Bonus : Catrina Maria Designs was their coordinator, she is just a gem, so talented and great to work with, a true professional. My BELOVED Matt from Extreme Pro D.j’s did took care of the entertainment. Matt is one of the best in the area, if you can get him to D.j your wedding, DO IT !
They were married at St. Francis Church and had their very elegant party in their Grandmothers STUNNING river front backyard. The talented and so very helpful Dustin Whitehead did the wedding with me. Thanks Dustin, you are one of the coolest people.
And we had Miss Tiffany ( who is just about the cutest most perky person in the world ) getting even MORE great images.
FEEL THE LOVE:
I promised Morgan that I would make her look like a super model….mission accomplished !
How priceless are the expressions on Mother and Daughters face ?
/a> Todd is doing his ‘ precious moments’ pose as that was his nickname in college. He DOES bear a striking resemblance.
The rare yawning and beaming in the same photo.
We loved how silly and play these two were, just an amazing match !
Talk about a view !
Cute shot by Dustin W ! Well…..ALMOST everyone had a great time ( funny, I love his teen angst )
FUN FACT : I realllllllllllly wanted to use the song ‘she blinded me with science’ for the SLIDESHOW, but it did not go with the photos. When will I ever get the change to use that song again ?
ARE YOU KIDDING ME ??
That was the line that touched me the most in Jennifer’s e-mail to me after seeing their slideshow. Yes, it is official, I AM officially a ‘self absorbed’ blogger putting my brides nice e-mails to me on my blog. Jennifer wrote:
‘Awesome! We love them. You captured so many perfect moments. The one with my Dad with tears in his eyes at the ceremony … are you kidding me??? I started crying just looking at it. And some of the photos of the kids are hilarious. I can’t stop raving about these pictures. I really don’t have the words to thank you. James and I had a great time and we loved having you as our photographer.
thank you thank you thank you! Jen & James ‘.
But really, how many people get this much love for doing their job ? Again, I am SO blessed and fortunate.
Jennifer and James got married under the oak tree at David Girard Vineyards with PERFECT weather, the best sunset with one of the BEST d.j’s in the area, EXTREME PRO D.J’S.
What a class act this couple was, Jennifer, so totally relaxed and easy going and James, super cool guy with a huge smile that warms the soul.
James had 1.4 million nephews eating large quantities of all forms high fructose corn so as you can imagine, it was a fun party. Loved this wedding, this couple, sunsets and long walks on the beach :
Here is their super amazing SLIDESHOW
Every vendor Jodi and Mikey hired for their special day ADORDED THEM ! A wedding photographers dream couple, they ozzed warmth, kindness, love, goodness and FUN. I was honored to have been chosen capture their Big day. I loved all of their funky details, like peacock feathers and blue chuck’s ( which Jodi added a massive amount of glitter, everything is better with glitter right ).
My dear friend Shannon ( shanona Rider ) from FLOURISH…how do I LOVE THEE….Let me count the ways, kicked arse with their flowers. I love the way she puts her ‘mojo’ on the flowers. Stunning work as usual.
Just the perfect wedding at Lake Natomas Inn, perfect weather, the perfect D.j, Dominic ( Omen )from EXTREME and the perfect photo booth from Encore. Added bonus….getting to work with my friend Eric ( Erisa bearsa ) from ACTI-VIDEO. He ALWAYS brings charm and warmth and some great ideas when he shoots a wedding.
My favorite part of the day was the toast, Jodi’s maid of honor did this photo montage with photos of her and Jodi from their youth, HILARIOUS ! The whole crowd was cracking up like crazy.
So much fun and love, chalked full of yummine goodness :
This was Eric from ACTI-VIDEO’S idea to make her ‘the runaway bride’. Eric rules, he is my fav. videographer : )
WOW ! How BEAUTIFUL does my little Jodi look, what a beauty. That girl could model like a pro !
What is SO funny ?
My second shooters get the BEST kid shots, go Nic ( Nickle Pickle )
Not too many things I love more in life than the ‘scrunchie’ smile.
Jodi’s maid of honor had the whole crowd cracking up with her toast, she did a video montage of photos of them growing up. It was solid gold.
This gal told me she liked my blog, so pretty much if you do that you are in : )
FUN FACT : Jodi and Mikey were best friends and roomates for a long time before realizing they were meant to be man and wife
ANOTHER FUN FACT : THEY MADE A HONEYMOON BABY : )
