A bit of recent work printed in Sacramento Magazine to feed the hungry blog : ). I have said 423 times how much I love and appreciate shooting various assignments. Partly because I am noisy and love getting a glimpse into folks lives, and partly because I love the challenge of finding nailing just the right photo.
Note the flowers from Shannon ‘Totes Mc Goats’ from Flourish, her milk shake truly does bring all the boys to the yard. Great table shot from The Citizen Hotel, such a beautiful room.
My adorable bride Sara who was married at The Crocker Art Museum this past summer getting some lovin’ : )
FUN FUN FUN at karaoke at Oishii, I want to go back there
soon. It is such a unique venue.
I love it, they call her the ‘menu whisperer’.
This was a ‘why you gotta bring up old stuff’ shot we did of the band Desario a few years back. Desario is the gem of Sacramento. Jim Rivas, band member extraordinaire, is a friend and husband of our very own, again Shannon from Flourish ( name dropping like crazy over here ).
And Lastly, this image snagged ‘The big picture’ spot in the magazine. This was from the Christmas concert from the kids at St. Patricks Academy, completely adorable, this concert really reminded me of what Christmas is all about. So very touching.
Please don’t make me sing the rest of the lyrics ! I am without words to describe how exciting it was to photograph this years FASHION NIGHT OUT produced my our very own Mary Gonsalves Kinney and sponsored by Sacramento Magazine. This event benefited UC Davis Childrens Hospital and was held at the Pavillions, Libby Siino did a great job running the show. When the models of all types began to show their wares, it was just a moment of sheer magic and excitement. My heart was filled with gratitude and joy. I LOVE everything Sacramento, all of its amazing locations, people and happenings.. As usual no one really wants to hear me babble, get with the photos lady !
To start we scored a ‘ Big Picture ‘ in Sacramento Magazine. Oh how I love getting that BIG PICTURE !
Since I am contantly begging Jpegs from the good folks at Sacramento Magazine, I figured I better get them on the blog. Here are some of my recent published works. One point three MILLION thanks for letting me do my ‘ dream come true ‘ job and shoot for you and then for letting me relentlessly bum jpegs from you to put on my blog.
This was an absolute delight to photograph, I mean come on, taking photos of a bunch of healthy, happy, ripped people. Life is good indeed.
Great information on how to get some great deals on cool stuff in Sacramento. Mama super likes.
And lastly, this assignment was soooooooooooooooooo fun ! I highly recommend checking some of these places out.
I bought this book and highly recommend it !
And since it is apparently not possible for me NOT to do an epic blog post, here are few more favorites from these assignments.
My foray into being a paparazzi photographer was at the 2011 California Hall of Fame induction this year for Sacramento Magazine. So very exciting shooting celebs next to many of my fellow photographers. I was a bit star struck when I saw Robe Lowe. Instantly I was a 13 year old girl admiring him Justin Beeber groupie style. As he walked by I screamed ” Rob, I LOVED your book “, he stopped and acknowledged me for what seemed like an eternity and said ” who paid you to say that ” ? In my mind that was just like making out : ) I am a huge Rob Lowe fan and actually did read his book and loved it. His character on the show Parks and Recreation is one of my favorites !
I could have shot this for hours on end, the swing dancers at Veterans Salute Dance Party had mad skills. Loved watching them and shooting them ! The band The Jive Aces was incredible. Here is the one the ran in Sacramento Magazine for the ” Big Picture ” spread this month.
And as I am still super overkill in 2012, here are tons more of my favorite photos from my recent work in my beloved Sacramento Magazine : )
THANKS FOR TUNING IN !
This is my second time photographing Clint Eastwood, he was SO nice both times. Really an awesome guy !
Clint’s wife cracking up : )
Aldridge the O.G astronaut.
I am a HUGE fan of Lisa Ling ! Also SO nice !
That is Brenna Hamilton in the cute black and white skirt, she put this whole Sindig together. Her Skirt is a circus theme as she called it a ‘ media circus ‘. Fun fact, I shot her wedding oh so many years ago.
The beach boys. Awesome right.
The most excellent shot ever : ) This last one is of my beloved Kristen and Brian at the Citizen Hotel for the last issue of Sacramento Magazine ‘ great nights out’. I LOVE these kids and I LOVE the Citizen hotel. Total win win right : )
WHEWWWWW ! Way to ROCK in the new year with the cover of Sacramento Magazine ! Loved this concept and our superstar models from CAST IMAGES ! Working with a pro makes my day. Great job on the hair and make-up by Jenifer Haupt, I am her biggest fan !
The best part of getting a cover is going into starbucks and seeing it on the stands. Often I am in gym clothes ( sadly whether or not I have been to or am planning to go to the gym ) and I tell the barrestas ‘ this is my cover’ and they look at me like ‘ yeah right ‘. Anywho, ALWAYS a big thrill ! And since I am too lazy to drum up another blog post I figured just putting up all my covers would buy me some time. So happy it is a new year ! i LOVE how we all get a fresh start. For lack of another word that rhymes, ready to DELVE into 2012 : )
2011 ruled with these 2 covers ! Whoot !
Why you gotta bring up old stuff right ? Re-living my glory days….
FUN FACT: This is Mike Regan of Mr. DJ Service
Sacramento’s Adrience Bankart
This was my first cover……oh the memories !
So get out the balm because it appears I am going to milk this for all its worth.
The eagle has LANDED ! SO excited to see the new OUR WEDDING magazine hit the stands. Man alive was this a KILLER shoot ! It was one of my all time favorite covers. Our Models Kelsey Johnson and Ryan Ferguson from Cast Images really worked it out on this shoot.
Just the most awesome team EVERRRRRRRRR ! I could go on and on and on about my love for each one of these people we had working on this hot fashion model shoot, but I am going to try and contain myself.
I adore Sherri Morris from Brushworx Makeup Artistry with the make-up, and I am deeply in love with Tina Romo hairstylist to the stars. I am always so in awe of Sarah Kreutz, she is the best in the area for styling. She has such exquisite taste ! And much love for Debbie Hurst and Miles Harley with Sacramento Magazine and Our Wedding Magazine for giving me the gig and their art direction. And our ladies from the venue, Marjorie and Carrell were as cool as two humans could possibly be ! So very warm and kind and easy to work with. Their venue, the Coloma Country Inn is one of my all time favorites ! We had some of the best wedding people give us cool stuff to make our shoot more beautiful. Rebecca from Sweet Cakes by Rebecca and Katie from Ambience Floral both brought their treasures. I had TONS of help that day with my treasured Dacy McWhorter helping me with set styling, Carrie Nicole and Phoebe Verkouw being my right hand helpers all day. These shoots are not easy ! It takes a lot of folks working all day to pull this off, to be able to be the photographer is really such an honor and a blessing. I am one lucky ducky ! And YES, this is yet another ‘you are bloggin’ WAY too many images’ post, sorry, I am going to milk this for all its worth.
This is my favorite cover EVER !
This one is so ‘vampire movie’.
Again thanks to Sarah Kreutz for her great styling, love the dresses and accessories she found.
AND NOW MORE IMAGES THAT DID NOT MAKE THE CUT ( hey we only got so many pages, not all can make it in )
I just love everything about this photo, the hair, the make up, the coy look on the models face. Mama likes !
Love this cake right. It was a work of art !
Positivley LOVE this photo ! Thanks Katie from Ambience for bringing your beautiful flowers, love you !
How romantic right : )
LOVE LOVE LOVE !
BONUS : Lets get a closer look at the cake and flowers shall we ?
Stunning right ?
FUN FACT : My alternate title for this blog post was : ‘ We don’t mean to brag we don’t mean to boast, but we like hot butter on our breakfast toast ‘ but I feared few would get that reference : )
ASHLEY WILLIAMS from Good Day Sacramento was the best subject everrrrr. What an incredible session we had at the Crest theatre for this months Sacramento Magazine. Such a magical bond between photographer and subject quickly formed while we played in that extremely cool theatre. During the shoot several people stopped her and did a double take while walking by and asked….aren’t you that girl from GOOD DAY SACRAMENTO ?
FUN FACT: My mom used to drop us off at the Crest theatre when we were kids as our baby sitter. We would watch a double feature and then she would pick us up, it was ‘back in the day’ when you could do stuff like that I am guessing ?
YAYYYYY ! Isn’t it the best to see spring polkin’ its little head in to our lives. And for me, No better spring time boost than seeing my photo of the cover of Sacramento Magazine ! What a thrill and an honor. We were so LUCKY to get a sunny day to shoot our ridiculously good looking Cast Images models, Ellen Hancock and Reed Daniels, for the March cover. Then ANOTHER sunny day with another stunning Cast Images model ( these good looking people make my work look GOOD ! ) for our shoot the next day !
A huge thanks to both of our make-up artists and my friends Sherri Morris ( cover shot ) and Shana Beals ( park shots ), two of my favorite gals in the business ( they ALSO make my work look good ) ! And one billion thanks to Debbie Hurst for being a dream art director and always bringing so much style to every thing she does !
This may sound sooooo cheesy, but I am in with LOVE Sacramento ! Born and raised here, I think Sacramento is the best place to live and LOVE so many things about our city. So who better than me to photograph some of the cool things to do around here.
Yes indeed I am a lucky gal :
And BONUS ! They used some of my photos from the California Hall of Fame !
O.k end of the year and perhaps my blog titles are not so witty….. go figure.
I say this again and again, often I ponder that I can not believe my good fortune. In life, love and work, I am blessed indeed. Shooting for Sacramento Magazine is truly one of my favorite things to do, I love getting a peek into peoples lives. Here are a few of the assignments I have done over the past few months :
Deirdre Fitzpatrick from KCRA , omg did we LOVE this lady, beauty was just one of her attributes, she is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. We had a great time shooting this on the Citizen Balcony. One of the best make-up artists Sheri Morris owner of Brushworx Makeup Artistry was in the house making me look good with her great make-up work and she brought the talented and uber cool Dacy Mc Whorter to help style the shoot.
Here is the one that ran in the magazine:
A few more of my favorites :
Are you kidding me with that delish sunset ?
And Nick Adorno, just the cutest kid ever ! What a treat getting to take his photo. We took loads of photos at the theatre, but the image they choose was shot at my beloved Image Provocateur’s salon in downtown Roseville. My friend Dana Schleth was doing a fashion shoot there so I horned in and used some of her lighting. Dana Rules. Again here is the one the magazine ran and a few favorites:
Talk about a dream job ! Louis Warfield from Rhino Design Studio gets to design and construct cool stuff and get paid for it. I was fascinated by his cool toys. A giant robot AND elephant, come on !
AND…. the Effervescent Melissa Crowley from News 10 Sacramento and Company was just pure joy to photograph ! Just a delightful gal full of life and spunk. The good folks at at California Backyards in Natomas were kind enough to allow us to use their lavish Christmas display for the shoot. Fun fact, the jumping and clowing around, that was ALL Melissa !
Its not small…the BIG PICTURE in Sacramento Magazine that is. That is ONE of the reasons I LOVE shooting the BIG PICTURE for the pages of Sacramento Magazine, the other is that it is usually such a fun and exciting assignment. Also I LOVE shooting the back page as I want the magazine to end with a BANG !!
This was Sacramento’s lil miniture version of American Idol held at Pearl on the River. This gal won !
Sacramento’s own Mumbo Gumbo performing in the park. Sort of a cool hippy vibe in the air. A good time was had by all.
Miss Iris owns the coolest art gallery in Del Paso Heights, what a joy to photograph this woman:
Our very own ‘Green Grocer’ Michael Marks brought about 150 shirts with food on them to my studio. Great dynamic subject he was :
Here are a few more Images I LOVED from these shoots:
The man had some shirts…thats all I am saying…
The ‘winner in announced’ moment. Very exciting !
photos with heart and soul
