Getting the people in your family at the right place at the right time is really the biggest key to having an easy breezy day. Telling everyone where they are to be for photos at what time will really help your day have an amazing flow.
Having your hair and make-up team be sure your hair and make-up are done in time to get your photos is the #1 thing you can do to make sure you are not late … for a very important date.
Or cold! Be sure to plan for the weather! If you are having your wedding mid July be sure your dress is not wool (kidding), but you may want to take your dress choice and the heat into consideration. Consider the guys attire also, perhaps rethink those 3 piece suits if you wedding is in the “it could be 102 degrees” time of year. And a cool drink of water during a hot ceremony can make a huge difference to cool things down.
O.K., trust me on this one! Have someone in charge of pinning on the flowers. It may not seem like something you need to delegate, but it is! I would assign a person and tell them their only goal is to pin on flowers. Be sure to have your personal flowers delivered to the right place at the right time.
This is something I tell every bride. A good D.J is worth the extra $$. They can really make or break a wedding.
Man Alive, do we L-O-V-E up-lighting — it makes the photos so much better.
It is the heartfelt mushy stuff that people remember most about a wedding (not those napkins with your names on them). A funny vows that make everyone in the house laugh and cry at the same time, that heartfelt speech about how much you love your mom during the toast, that is the good stuff, and its FREE.
Check out reviews before booking your major vendors. If they are getting a few bad reviews, that speaks volumes about their reputation. Most brides will rave about their favorites, but if you ruin their day there is hell to pay. Most reputable vendors will light up when you ask them about their favorite fellow vendors. We LOVE giving you referrals of our favorites.
Always beware of discounters. If that photographer or florist is super undercutting the market, there could be a reason. When choosing a photographer ask to see several whole weddings on-line, that way you can really see what to expect from your wedding.
It is always a good idea to KEEP YOUR CELL PHONE ON before the wedding. Often times we are trying to get a hold of some- one who is not answering their phones at crucial moments.
God bless Uncle Bob wanting to capture your wedding images for you on his iphone but he is often in our shot and in our way. There is a whole new “unplugged” trend where brides and grooms are asking their guest to turn off their cell phones and enjoy the wedding. Hey we are all a bit addicted to our phones, but on this special day I think it is awesome when everyone is present and not viewing the magic moments through a 3 inch screen. There are many article on this on-line, just google “un-plugged weddings” and many sites will pop up with some great wording to help you nicely tell your guest to sit back and enjoy.
